AhlulBayt News Agency: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei says that the map of Iran represents that all Iranians are ready to sacrifice their lives to honor and safeguard the borders of their country.
Today marks the second week of the epic battle of Iranians against aggression by the criminal US-Israeli regimes, said Baqaei in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday.
In the past two weeks, he said, the soldiers and guardians of Iran have well demonstrated how they risk their lives against the enemy and how they sacrifice for the dignity of Iran.
The most significant event that recently occurred was the choosing of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the third leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Trump’s plan to disintegrate iran
In reaction to remarks made by US President Donald Trump suggesting alteration of Iran’s borders following aggression by the criminal regimes of the US and Israel, Baqaei said that the will of the Iranian nation is important, not the will of malicious foreigners.
The US President and others have commented on various territories in the world, including Canada, as if countries are like real estate dealings, he said, noting that nations, in fact, are established through national sovereignty, the collective will of their people, and the right to self-determination.
The official elaborated that national borders are the product of historical, social, and religious evolutions, representing the core identity of a nation.
For Iranians, he said, the map of Iran symbolizes their heritage, which they deeply cherish and are prepared to defend with their lives.
The spokesperson asserted that Iran has historically been a place where foreign ambitions have failed.
Moreover, Baqaei issued a warning to other nations, stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to safeguarding its country’s integrity, borders, and territorial completeness.
Indifference equals with oppression
He cautioned that countries remaining indifferent or those mistakenly believing they can avoid repercussions by observing illegal actions in the region are misguided.
The ongoing situation has jeopardized universally accepted norms, he underlined.
The spokesperson called on all governments and freedom-seeking individuals concerned with international security and human dignity not to remain indifferent.
He argued that indifference in the face of injustice eventually implicates the indifferent as complicit in oppression.
Iran’s primary focus is dedicated to defending country against aggression
Regarding the US motives behind its aggression against Iran, the spokesperson said that the US aims to control the resources of other nations.
He referred a statement by Senator Lindsey Graham about the potential to dominate 31% of global oil reserves by controlling Iran’s oil alongside Venezuela’s and recalled previous statements by the US Secretary of State indicating that the war was initiated for Israel’s sake.
The official said that the US’s intentions in militarily confronting Iran are clear to the Iranian people, the global community, and the region.
The spokesperson reiterated that Iran’s current efforts are entirely concentrated on defending its territory against the brutal aggression.
The Islamic Republic has learned valuable lessons from its experiences over the past 47 years, Baqaei said, reminding the public that the history of US animosity towards Iran extends beyond 1979, citing the 1953 coup where Iranian trust in the US was betrayed through their collaboration with coup plotters, despite initial hopes for liberation from other colonial powers.
The spokesperson also pointed to the US’s role in undermining two diplomatic processes in the last two years while Iran was engaged in negotiations.
Thus, Baqaei said, the path forward is clear: to defend Iran's integrity with maximum effort, unity, and solidarity.
